Biography
Dr. Wang’s research interests are mainly focused on three areas: 1) Human genetics and genomics for personalized nutrition; 2) Human epidemiological data analyses for understanding roles of metal (iron, zinc, manganese) homeostasis in chronic diseases; 3) Molecular mechanisms of metal homeostasis using knockout mouse and zebrafish models.
Dr. Wang holds several high profile national honors, including National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program, The Scholar for State Project of "Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents", Leading Talent Youth Investigator for The National Ministry of Science and Technology, National Distinguished Young Scientist from China National Nature Science Foundation, and The Scholar of the Hundred Talents Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wang earned his Bachelor's degree from HeBei Medical University in 1992, and received his Ph.D. from Second Military Medical University in 1998. Since then, he was recruited as an Assistant Professor, an Associate Professor, and the Chair of Department of Naval Medicine at Second Military Medical University till 2002. From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Wang completed his postdoctoral training at the Department of Nutritional Sciences and Biochemistry, University of Missouri-Columbia. Then he was promoted to be an Instructor at Children's Hospital Boston at Harvard Medical School. In 2008, Dr. Wang was appointed as Research Associate Professor at the Department of Human Nutrition and Food Science, University of Florida. From 2009 to 2012, Dr. Wang was recruited as Principal Investigator and the Head for the Laboratory of Mineral Molecular Nutrition at Institute for Nutritional Sciences, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wang was appointed as Dean at School of Public Health, Zhejiang University and current Dean (from 2015) at School of Public Health, Zhengzhou University. Dr. Wang published over a hundred peer reviewed research articles.
